もし太陽でスーパーフレアが発生し，地球に向かって電磁波や放射線等が大量かつ強力に押し寄せた場合，世界各国の原子力発電所や核兵器その他の原子力施設等が持ちこたえられるかどうかは未知数だ。そもそもフレアによる影響は想定に入れていない。おそらく，駄目だろう。その日に地球人類が「オシマイ」となってしまう可能性は否定できない。

ちなみに，そこまでいかなくても，インターネットを含め現在ある情報ネットワークシステムや電子機器類が相当のダメージを受けるか壊滅してしまう危険性はかなり高いと言わざるを得ない。そうした電子機器類の中には，自動車，飛行機，船舶，鉄道列車等に組み込まれているものも含まれているし，病院内の医療機器類も含まれている。可能な限りの電磁波遮蔽技術の開発・普及が急務と思われる。
